Singapore Marina Quest
Missions across Marina Bay, Chinatown and a hawker centre finish.

A regional team that needs to connect
Sound familiar?
- “Our people work across many countries but rarely meet.”
- “New arrivals to Singapore never really see the city.”
- “We want an activity that feels local, not generic.”
The Experience
Singapore Marina Quest sends teams across one of the world’s most varied cities with a phone and a set of missions. The route runs from Marina Bay and the Merlion to the shophouses and temples of Chinatown, and every team decides its own order. Good planning in the first ten minutes often decides the final result.
Missions run on GoQuest, our own team game app. Teams recreate a famous skyline photo, learn a greeting in Malay, Mandarin or Tamil, find the story behind a temple door and order a local dish by its proper name. Photos, videos and answers all score points, and a live leaderboard shows every team where it stands.
The quest finishes at a hawker centre, where the last mission is a team tasting challenge before the results. We time the route around the midday heat and keep covered stops ready for rain. We run it in Singapore, with editions for Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
Groups of ten to three hundred can play, starting from one central meeting point.
The Takeaways
Teams have to agree on a route, split up and regroup, and change plans when a mission takes longer than expected. That makes planning, task sharing and quick adjustments visible in a way a meeting room never can. Teams see at once whether their plan was clear enough for everyone to follow.
Singapore runs on four main languages and many cultures, and the missions are built around that. People practise curiosity, ask strangers for help and learn how much a team gains from different perspectives. Quieter colleagues often lead when the task is a language or culture clue.
The shared finish turns the afternoon into a story the group retells for months. In the short debrief, each team names one moment where it adapted well, and one habit it will use when plans change at work.
For international groups, the quest also builds confidence in a new destination early in the trip. Guests explore on their own terms afterwards, because the afternoon has already shown them how to move around the city and where to go.
Program flow
-
Welcome and kick-off · 0–15 min
Teams gather at Marina Bay, receive their team name and open the quest on their phones. The facilitator explains the rules, scoring and heat safety, and every team gets a water bottle and a hint card.
-
Marina Bay missions · 15–60 min
Teams start around the bay with photo challenges at the Merlion and along the waterfront. Early missions help them agree on roles and plan a route that avoids the hottest stretches.
-
Chinatown and culture · 60–120 min
Teams move into Chinatown, where missions need curiosity and local help: learning a greeting in Malay, Mandarin or Tamil, finding the story behind a temple door and spotting details in the shophouses.
-
Hawker finish · 120–150 min
Teams arrive at a hawker centre for the final mission, a tasting challenge where they must identify and order local dishes by their proper names before the clock runs out.
-
Results and debrief · 150–180 min
The leaderboard is revealed with the best photos and videos. The facilitator leads a short debrief on planning and adapting, and each team names one moment where it worked especially well together.
The game ends. The learning starts.
Every Phoenix program closes with a guided debrief. These are the questions for Singapore Marina Quest:
- How did we plan our route, and did the plan survive the afternoon?
- Who stepped forward when we needed help from strangers?
- Which perspective in our team helped us most today?
- When did we adapt well, and when did we hold on too long?
- What one habit will we use when plans change at work?

Frequently asked questions
How hot is it?
Singapore is warm all year. We plan the route around shade and air-conditioned stops, avoid the midday heat and give every team water.
What happens if it rains?
Tropical showers are short. We keep covered missions ready and can shift the route through malls and covered walkways.
Do guests need to speak local languages?
No. Some missions teach a simple greeting, and that is part of the fun. English is spoken everywhere in Singapore.
How far do teams walk?
About three to four kilometres in total, at an easy pace, with MRT shortcuts allowed between areas.
Can we include our company messages?
Yes. Missions can feature your values, products or event theme alongside the city challenges.
Are there editions in other cities?
Yes. We run editions in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, and we can write a quest for any destination in our network.
