Vietnam Cambodia Odyssey is a carefully paced 16 day route designed for travelers who want to go beyond the highlights and experience the region through real stories, everyday life, and memorable landscapes. Begin in Hanoi with its heritage streets and vibrant food culture, then cruise through the limestone seascapes of Ha Long Bay. Continue to Hue and Hoi An for imperial history and living traditions, before flying south to feel Saigon after dark and explore the waterways of the Mekong Delta. Cross into Cambodia by speedboat to discover Phnom Penh’s royal landmarks and continue to Siem Reap for Tonle Sap floating community life and the temple wonders of Angkor. Throughout the journey, we keep the rhythm comfortable and meaningful, so you have time to connect, reflect, and enjoy.




Trip Itinerary
Day 1 Hanoi Arrival
Arrive at Noi Bai International Airport and meet your driver for a private transfer to your hotel in the city center. The rest of the day is free to rest after your journey. If you feel up for it, take a gentle evening walk around Hoan Kiem Lake to see Hanoi’s calmer side before the next days of discovery.
Day 2 Hanoi Orientation And Cultural Highlights
Begin your guided introduction with the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university and a symbol of learning. Continue to the Museum of Ethnology for an insightful look at Vietnam’s diverse cultural communities. Later, visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex and nearby landmarks that reflect modern Vietnamese history. In the late afternoon, wander the Old Quarter’s narrow lanes, pause for selected street food tastings, and end with a traditional Water Puppet Show.
Day 3 Hanoi To Ha Long Bay Overnight Cruise
Leave Hanoi in the morning for Ha Long City and board your cruise. Sail into a dramatic seascape of limestone towers rising from emerald water, then spend the afternoon kayaking in calm waters where Ha Long meets Bai Tu Long. As evening arrives, slow down on deck to enjoy sunset views before dinner on board. Overnight in a comfortable private cabin with en suite bathroom.
Day 4 Ha Long Bay To Hanoi Flight To Hue
Wake to the serene bay and, if you like, join a short Tai Chi session on deck. Take a bamboo boat visit to a floating village to observe daily life on the water, then cruise back to port. Transfer to Hanoi and continue to the airport for your flight to Hue. On arrival, meet your local team and transfer to your hotel for a relaxed evening.
Day 5 Hue Cultural Heritage
Enjoy a scenic boat trip along the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue’s most iconic landmarks. Continue to the Imperial Citadel to explore the walls, gates, and royal relics of the Nguyen Dynasty. In the afternoon, visit Minh Mang Tomb for a beautiful example of imperial architecture and landscape design, then finish in Thuy Bieu village at a garden house where tea and conversation create a quiet, local ending to the day.
Day 6 Hue To Hoi An Via Hai Van Pass
Travel south from Hue to Hoi An along the spectacular Hai Van Pass, one of Vietnam’s most scenic coastal roads. Stop for viewpoints and, if timing allows, visit the Marble Mountains near Da Nang. Arrive in Hoi An and settle in, then explore the Old Town on foot. Your guide shares the stories behind Hoi An’s architecture and multicultural trading past, and you have time to enjoy the lantern lit atmosphere in the evening.
Day 7 Hoi An Organic Farm And Cooking Experience
Cycle at an easy pace through countryside lanes toward an organic farm, passing rice fields and village life. Enjoy a short basket boat ride through coconut waterways, then join locals for hands on farming activities that reflect traditional methods. Continue with an interactive cooking class using fresh produce and enjoy the meal you help prepare. Return to your hotel around early afternoon, with the rest of the day free for beach time, tailoring, or relaxed café hopping.
Day 8 Hoi An To Da Nang Flight To Ho Chi Minh City Saigon By Night
Enjoy a relaxed morning before transferring to Da Nang Airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. After check in, discover Saigon after dark on a motorbike tour with experienced drivers and helmets provided. Visit a local market, taste selected street foods, explore an old apartment building with stories from another era, and step into a local home for a warm, memorable glimpse of everyday Saigon life.
Day 9 Cu Chi Tunnels And Saigon Colonial Walk
Travel outside the city to Cu Chi to learn about Vietnam’s wartime history and the underground tunnel network. Return to the city and enjoy a relaxed walking tour through District 1’s French colonial landmarks. Along the way, pause for a coffee break in a retro apartment building that reveals Saigon’s creative, lived in charm, then enjoy time at leisure for the rest of the afternoon.
Day 10 Ho Chi Minh City To Cai Be To Can Tho
Depart for Cai Be and board a traditional boat for an introduction to Mekong river life. Cruise through waterways, then cycle gently on river islands to visit local homes and small farms, tasting seasonal fruits and local snacks along the way. Continue by road to Can Tho in the late afternoon, check in, and enjoy a quiet evening by the riverside.
Day 11 Can Tho Floating Market Tra Su Forest Chau Doc
Start early for Cai Rang Floating Market to see the river trading scene at its liveliest. Afterward, continue toward Tra Su Nature Reserve and travel by boat into the flooded forest, gliding through green waterways filled with birdlife and quiet beauty. In the late afternoon, transfer to Chau Doc for check in and a restful evening near the border region.
Day 12 Chau Doc To Phnom Penh By Speedboat
Transfer to the pier and travel by speedboat to Phnom Penh, a scenic journey that shifts the landscape and atmosphere as you cross into Cambodia. After check in, explore the city’s key landmarks including the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, gaining a clear introduction to Cambodia’s royal heritage and cultural identity. Evening at leisure.
Day 13 Phnom Penh To Siem Reap Tonle Sap Phare Circus
Transfer for your flight to Siem Reap and settle in. In the afternoon, visit Tonle Sap and a floating community to witness daily life on the lake, from stilt houses to floating shops and schools. Return to town in time for the Phare Circus, a high energy performance that blends modern theatre, acrobatics, music, and Cambodian storytelling.
Day 14 Ta Prohm Takeo Banteay Samre Banteay Srei
Explore Ta Prohm, the atmospheric temple embraced by massive tree roots, then continue to Takeo and other quieter corners of Angkor that reveal the site’s scale beyond the main routes. In the afternoon, visit Banteay Samre and continue to Banteay Srei, celebrated for its delicate pink sandstone carvings and remarkable artistry. Return to Siem Reap in the evening.
Day 15 Angkor Wat Angkor Thom Bayon
Rise early for sunrise at Angkor Wat, then explore its galleries and bas reliefs that reveal Khmer mythology, history, and extraordinary craftsmanship. In the afternoon, enter Angkor Thom through monumental gates and visit royal terraces before reaching the Bayon temple with its iconic stone faces. Return to your hotel with time to rest or enjoy a relaxed evening in town.
Day 16 Siem Reap Departure
Enjoy free time until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Depending on your schedule, you may fit in a final café stop, a quiet local market visit, or a short stroll to say goodbye to Cambodia in your own way.
