About

Rolling Kitchen Challenge puts your teams in charge of their own street food business on wheels. Each team receives a brief covering the main ingredients, the location, its target customers and its opening hours.

Using that information, teams decide on a brand, a signature dish, how the food will be presented and how it will be priced. They also plan their sales strategy, set a break schedule and share out the jobs among team members.

Then it is time to open for business. Teams get to work in their kitchens, bringing their street food concept to life against the clock.

When time is up, each team presents its signature dish and introduces its head chef, and the judges choose the best rolling kitchen of the day.

Learning outcomes

Rolling Kitchen Challenge is a collaborative activity that helps people learn and refine teamwork, effective communication and time management in a lively, hands-on setting.

Turning a brief into a brand, menu and sales plan shows the value of good planning and organised work. Teams quickly see how decisions about price, presentation and customers all connect.

Running the kitchen brings people from different roles and personalities together. Each person discovers their strengths, takes ownership of their tasks and works towards the team's shared goal.

Presenting to the judges adds a final test of clear communication and customer focus, and gives every team a proud moment to celebrate together. Because every member has a clear job, from chef to front of house, people experience how their own contribution affects the customer, the team and the final result, just as it does in a real business.
