Smoothie Supply Chain
Source, trade, blend and market the perfect smoothie together.

About
In Smoothie Supply Chain, teams represent divisions of a global smoothie company facing real logistical challenges: setting up international deliveries and planning ahead under tight deadlines.
Each team is given a recipe for a smoothie, but the ingredients it needs are held by other teams. Through collaboration across teams, they set up trade agreements that redistribute resources so every team can make its smoothie.
Once the smoothies are blended and tasted, teams develop a marketing campaign and strategy to sell their product, then present their campaigns to the group.
Along the way, teams must resolve complex distribution issues and show how, working together, they can reduce their carbon footprint. The best teams treat the other divisions as partners rather than rivals, sharing information early and planning deliveries together so no one is left waiting for a vital ingredient.
Learning outcomes
Smoothie Supply Chain is a fun, fast and lively business simulation. Teams apply effective business management skills and strategic thinking to a real-world supply chain situation.
In a relaxed, informal setting, participants feel free to take risks, build networks and improve their communication skills as the game unfolds.
Collaboration is key. The activity lays bare the pitfalls of working in silos and is a great metaphor for cross-functional cooperation, as every division depends on the others to get the right ingredients.
Teams learn to manage the project as one group, making sure every division ends up with what it needs and that each smoothie lives up to the way it is marketed. It is a memorable reminder that customer promises are only as strong as the supply chain behind them.
