About

In Pedicab Sprint, teams build their own three-wheeled passenger cart within a tight time frame. It is a fast, hands-on challenge that gets everyone moving from the very first minute.

Working from supplied plans, each team turns a self-assembly kit of materials into the ultimate cardboard racing vehicle, sturdy enough to carry a passenger.

Once it is built, teams decorate their pedicab so it stands out from the rest, adding colour, character and a few finishing touches. Teams also choose who will take the passenger seat and who will power the pedicab on race day.

The challenge ends with a race, where teams pit their pedicabs against each other in a test of speed and control. With cheering supporters and a dash to the finish line, it is a lively finale that brings the whole group together.

Learning outcomes

Teamwork, resourcefulness and excellent communication are needed to turn a pile of materials into a working pedicab.

With a clear understanding of the end goal, teams can form sub-teams and work in parallel, breaking a complex project into manageable parts and keeping everyone busy and effective.

Keeping those sub-teams connected matters too, as every part has to fit together at the end. Good check-ins and clear roles stop small problems turning into big ones.

There is also plenty of room for creativity when it comes to decorating. The race finale adds healthy competition and a big shared moment, leaving teams with a strong sense of what they can achieve when they plan well and pull together.
