About

Stolen Diamond Alibi begins with a mysterious video telling teams that they have been linked to the perfect robbery. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Teams have a limited time to get their story straight and work out exactly when they were at each place on the night of the robbery. If they can also work out who stole the diamonds, they will certainly be let off.

Each team has a bag of items from the night to help with its quest. An app guides teams to checkpoints where they complete photo and video tasks, cryptic questions and riddles, with escape room style puzzles such as ciphers, symbol swaps, hidden objects, pattern spotting, strange smells and mysterious sounds.

Teams earn points for correct answers and collect time and location clues in their notebook to prove where they were. The team with the most points wins, but there is also shared celebration, as all teams must ultimately work together to clear their names.

Learning outcomes

Escape room games have become a popular way to step outside your comfort zone and take on an exciting new challenge. Stolen Diamond Alibi brings that thrill into a flexible format that can be tailored to your goals.

Participants think creatively to uncover clues, communicate with each other and ultimately solve the mystery. Because each clue only makes sense alongside others, teams learn to share what they know quickly.

The activity is designed so that everyone takes part, with cryptic puzzles, photo and video challenges, sound and smell tasks, songs, dances and even rhyme writing.

The real-time experience gives participants first-hand practice at acting in a new and unknown situation. As the time limit approaches, suspense builds, individual strengths become clear and people learn to think calmly under pressure.
