Planning a corporate meeting in Branson
When to go, where to meet, how to get your group there, and what to plan for the evenings in the Ozarks. A practical guide for meeting and event planners.
Why hold a meeting in Branson
Branson sits in the Ozark Mountains of southwest Missouri, surrounded by lakes, forested hills and one of the largest concentrations of live entertainment theaters in the country. A downtown convention center, lakeside resorts and a long list of evening options make it easy to build a full program in one place.
It suits regional and national conferences, sales meetings, incentive trips and leadership retreats, especially for groups from the Midwest and South who can drive in. Outdoor activities on Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo add variety between sessions.
When to go
Spring and fall bring the most comfortable weather and colorful hills. Summer is hot and humid, and the holiday season from November into December is famous for its light displays and Christmas shows.
March–MayMild to warm, some stormsGood for outdoor activities; plan indoor backups for rain.
June–AugustHot and humidLake activities are popular; schedule outdoor sessions early or late in the day.
September–OctoberWarm days, cooler nightsA favorite season for meetings and retreats, with fall color in October.
November–FebruaryCool to cold, occasional iceHoliday shows and lights draw crowds in November and December; check seasonal operating dates for attractions.
Planner tip: the holiday season is one of Branson’s busiest times. If you meet in November or December, book hotels and group show tickets early.
Getting there
Most attendees who fly arrive through Springfield, about 40 miles north. Many regional groups drive.
- Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF), with nonstop flights from a number of US hubs; the drive to Branson usually takes about an hour.
- Branson Airport (BKG), closer to town but with very limited scheduled service; check current flights before planning around it.
For groups, arrange coach transfers from SGF and shuttles between the hotel, venues and evening shows. Branson’s main roads can be busy at peak times, so build buffer time into transfers.
Where to meet and stay
Choose your base by group size and style: downtown for conferences, the lakes for retreats.
The Branson Convention Center, connected hotels, and a walkable waterfront of shops and restaurants on Lake Taneycomo.
Lakeside resorts with ballrooms and meeting space, suited to conferences that want water views and outdoor time.
A wilderness resort area south of town with a conference center, golf and dramatic clifftop dining.
Hotels, theaters and restaurants along Highway 76, convenient for groups planning several evening shows.
Keeping sessions, rooms and meals in one venue saves time, especially when the evening program involves travel to a theater or the lake.
