About

Little Makers Charity Build turns your team into a small toy company with a big purpose. Each team receives a mixed box of wooden parts and a set of 3D plans showing a range of toy designs, and has to work out how to turn them into well-made children’s toys.

Planning comes first. Teams identify the components, map out the flow of work, give every person a clear job and set up their own production line. Each toy has to pass a quality check before it moves on to be painted and decorated.

In the second phase, teams design simple, educational games that make the most of the toys they have built, then present them to the whole group in a relaxed finale.

Every toy and game is then donated to a local children’s charity, school or home, so the work the team does together leaves something real behind.

Learning outcomes

Little Makers Charity Build shows, in a very practical way, how good planning pays off. Teams quickly discover that splitting a job into clear roles and a steady workflow gets far better results than everyone building at once.

The quality check at every step reminds people that standards are a shared responsibility, not one person's job. When a toy fails the check, teams have to communicate, adjust and fix the problem without stopping the whole line.

Designing the games adds a creative layer and asks teams to think about the end user: the children who will actually play with what they have made.

Knowing that everything will be donated gives the day a real sense of purpose. Participants leave proud of what they built together, and with a fresh view of how teamwork and giving back can go hand in hand.

Program flow

Teams open their box of wooden parts, study the 3D plans and agree who will handle each stage of the production line.

  2. Build and quality check

Teams assemble their toys step by step, and every toy must pass a quality check before it moves on.

  3. Decorate

Teams paint and decorate each toy, adding colour and character so it is ready for a child to enjoy.

  4. Design the games

Teams invent simple, educational games that make the most of the toys they have built, ready to show the group.

  5. Showcase and donation

Each team presents its games in a relaxed finale, then all toys and games are donated to a local children's charity, school or home.
