Planning a corporate meeting in Los Cabos

When to go, which part of the coast to choose, what to know about the sea and the season, and how to plan days beyond the meeting room. A practical guide for meeting and event planners.

Why hold a meeting in Los Cabos

At the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, Los Cabos combines desert, mountains and the sea. Its resorts are among the most upscale in Mexico, and the airport has direct flights from many US and Canadian cities.

It suits incentive trips, leadership retreats and executive meetings. Golf, spas, whale watching and boat trips give attendees memorable experiences between sessions.

When to go

Late fall through spring brings sunny, dry weather and the highest demand. Summer is hot, and late summer falls within the Pacific hurricane season.

Getting there

Most attendees fly into Los Cabos International.

  • Los Cabos International (SJD), near San José del Cabo. Allow about 20 minutes to San José del Cabo and 40 to 50 minutes to Cabo San Lucas.

Entry for US attendees: a valid passport is required to fly to Mexico. Entry rules and forms can change, so always check the latest guidance from the US State Department and the Government of Mexico before you travel.

Where to meet and stay

Most groups stay in one resort with its own meeting space, so rooms, sessions and dinners are in one place.

Cabo San Lucas

A lively marina town with restaurants, nightlife and boat trips to El Arco.

The Tourist Corridor

The coast between the two towns, with many large resorts and golf courses.

San José del Cabo

A quieter colonial town with an art district, closer to the airport.

Puerto Los Cabos and the East Cape

Newer resorts and a calmer setting for smaller groups.

Many beaches have strong currents and are not safe for swimming. Choose a resort with a swimmable beach or good pools if water time matters to the group.

Team building ideas in Los Cabos

Resort lawns, beaches and the sea set the scene for active team experiences.

Group dinners and evenings

Evenings in Los Cabos are often the most memorable part of an incentive program.

  • Sunset cruises past El Arco at Land’s End.
  • Beach and clifftop dinners with a private setup at the resort.
  • San José del Cabo’s art district, with galleries and restaurants.
  • A day trip to the town of Todos Santos on the Pacific coast.

Practical tips for planners

  • Check the beaches. Many beaches are not safe for swimming; follow the flags and resort advice.
  • Plan around the season. Include weather clauses in contracts if you meet from June to October.
  • Know the time zone. Baja California Sur is on Mountain Standard Time all year, one hour behind Mexico City.
  • Read the all-inclusive terms. Confirm what is included for group events, AV and private dinners.
  • Book boats early. Whale-watching and sunset cruises fill up in peak season.
