Roman Racer Build
Build a full-size chariot, decorate it with flair and race for glory.

About
In Roman Racer Build, teams construct a full-scale Roman or Celtic chariot. Working from supplied plans, they turn a self-assembly kit of materials into the ultimate cardboard racing vehicle, with machine and human power working in harmony.
Planning and teamwork are essential, as every part has to come together within a limited time frame. Teams decide early who will build, who will decorate and who will take the reins on race day.
Teams then use their creativity and artistic flair to decorate their chariot so it stands out from the rest.
The challenge ends with a race, where teams pit their chariots against each other in a test of speed and skill, or with a gladiator-themed parade in a lively, arena-style atmosphere. Either way, the finale is loud, colourful and full of team spirit.
Learning outcomes
Building a chariot takes effective communication, collaboration and strong team dynamics. Teams need to plan carefully and work together to reach their goal within the limited time frame.
Sharing out tasks and keeping everyone involved helps the team move quickly from a pile of parts to a working vehicle. When something does not fit first time, quick problem solving and a calm head keep the build on track.
Decorating the chariot brings out creativity and artistic flair, giving every team member a chance to contribute ideas.
The final race fuels a healthy competitive spirit and creates a fun shared experience that teams will look back on long after the event. It is a vivid example of how planning, coordination and a bit of courage turn an ambitious goal into a real result.
