About

Storm Survival Camp begins at a team training centre, where teams learn survival skills that could come in handy in extreme weather.

Using app-based technology, teams learn, practise and compete face to face in survival-themed challenges through trivia, photo and video tasks. Zones include Navigation, Shelter, Knots, Fire, Animal Awareness, Water Filtration, Signalling, First Aid and Food, and there are too many for any one team to complete alone.

Suddenly the training is interrupted by a storm alert. In just 30 minutes, the whole region will be hit by a storm expected to last for weeks, maybe months.

To survive, all teams must collaborate as one group and put their new skills to the test to release the real survival tools locked in a box. The final test includes target accuracy, a first aid stretcher challenge, decoding Morse code, shelter building and more. The team that plays together survives together.

Learning outcomes

Storm Survival Camp is designed to get team members collaborating face to face. With an escape room style finale, teams explore how to delegate roles and talk openly about the strengths and gaps in their skill sets.

Teams have to solve problems, perform and succeed in a fun, time-pressured environment. With too many zones for one team to cover, groups must decide where to focus and who does what.

Because the training zones focus on real-life basic survival skills, players finish the game with more knowledge about surviving in the wild than they started with. Many people discover surprising practical skills, from tying knots to signalling for help.

The immersive theme and engaging challenges spark conversation and storytelling about past experiences, creating space for colleagues to get to know each other on a new and genuine level.
