Planning a corporate meeting in Miami
When to go, whether to stay on the beach or in Brickell, what to know about the weather, and how to plan the evenings. A practical guide for meeting and event planners.
Why hold a meeting in Miami
Miami combines beaches, a lively food and art scene, and a strong business center. It is also the main gateway between North America and Latin America, which makes it a natural choice for companies with teams across the Americas.
It suits incentive trips, leadership meetings, regional sales meetings and client events. Spanish is widely spoken, which helps for groups from Latin America.
When to go
Winter and early spring bring warm, dry weather and the highest demand. Summer is hot and humid, with frequent afternoon storms.
December–FebruaryWarm and dryPeak season. Early December is especially busy during Art Basel Miami Beach.

Planner tip: the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November. If you meet then, choose contracts with clear weather and cancellation terms.
Getting there
Two major airports serve the area.
- Miami International (MIA), west of downtown, with flights across the Americas and Europe. Allow 20 to 40 minutes to Brickell or Miami Beach by road.
- Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International (FLL), about 30 miles north, often a good option for domestic flights.
For groups, private transfers keep arrivals simple. Traffic on the causeways to Miami Beach can be heavy at peak times.
Where to meet and stay
Groups usually choose between the beach and the city, depending on the feel of the program.
Beachfront hotels, the Art Deco district and the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The financial district, with business hotels, rooftop venues and bay views.
Quieter, leafy areas with historic hotels for leadership meetings.
An island setting with resorts, a short drive from downtown.
For incentive programs, a beachfront resort keeps the group together. For business meetings, Brickell is closer to offices and the airport.

- Check resort fees and service charges. Many hotels add daily fees and automatic gratuities.
- Mind the sun. Provide shade, water and sunscreen for outdoor activities.
- Tipping is expected. Around 18 to 22 percent in restaurants; some already include a service charge, so check the bill.
